Dec 2nd  Discussion included:   Voting on the proposed slate of 2022 Board of Directors,  a live demo of the Neighborhood Registry presented by Maggie Gleason (Long Range Planning Dept)  and details from the Short Term Rentals team presented by Ryan Holcomb (Planning Director) and Gilles Morin (Asst Planning Director).   The 2022 membership drive kickoff was discussed and a discussion on the 2022 meeting format (ie, virtual / in person).   And,  a fun activity!    To view the meeting, click December Zoom Meeting

Nov 11 Discussion included:  Short Term Rental ordinance status update,  introducing the Neighborhood Contact Registry and what HOAs can do in preparation, the 5G preferred location website - sharing questions from HOAs who are preparing their submittals.  We will also announce the slate of director candidates for 2022 - to be voted on in December.  Also,  soliciting nominations for annual Federation recognition awards. Oct 14   Discussion included:  Detention pond inspection and maintenance requirements,  FEMA substantial damage assessment and requirements presented by Robert Joyner, C-P Floodplain Manager.    The annual solicitation for board of director candidates,  recognition award nominees and the Federation's focus for the balance of 2021.  To view the meeting recording, click October Zoom Meeting

Sep 9   The September meeting was Canceled due to Hurricane IDA impacts to Baton Rouge  

Aug 12 Our annual Flood and Drainage Forum was CANCELED due to Covid concerns with in person meeeting.   The Federation did hold its routine monthly virtual meeting - topic is the Stormwater Master Plan - current status,  presented by Melissa Kennedy, HNTB.  This was the same presentation as the local response topic that would have been shared during the Drainage Forum, if held.  Also, Councilman Rowdy Gaudet will provide insights into the Moratorium resolution discussed at the Aug 11th Metro Council meeting. July 8 Discussion Included: a presentation by the Federation's Drainage committee to educate our members on the recent statement by the Federation on the May flood event. This was an educational presentation (see presentation link) by Ed Lagucki, entitled Drainage 101 - how we got here. The dialogue also focused on what should be included in the August Flood and Drainage Forum. Sherry Guarisco lead a discussion on proposed amendments to the By-laws and Articles and the members voted unanimously to approve. Jun 10 Discussion Included: BR drinking water aquifer - Save our Water. Allison Woolverton, Campaign Organizer with LEAN & Gary Beard, Exec Director of the Capital Groundwater Conservation Commission provided a very informative presentation and fielded numerous questions from the audience. Sherry Guarisco introduced amendments to the Federation by-laws and articles of incorporation. Activities of the Drainage committee, addressing the May flood event, were shared. Results from a recent survey of HOA insurance and dues collection methods were presented. May 13 Discussion Included: Discussion on numerous Blight related initiatives, including Federation's Blight Committee, LA Stormwater Coalition and Office of Neighborhood Revitalization. See this link for the presentation The annual report out of the 2020 financial review, monitoring LA legislative session bills impacting homeowners, update on short term rental status activities, and update on 5G preferred location acivities. Apr 8 Discussion Included: Councilmember Rowdy Gaudet (and a few other guests) presented the proposed amendments to the CIty Parish Plan of Government See this link for the presentation. The POG is a very important proposal which will ultimately be decided by the voters of E Baton Rouge. Key elements include: addition of an at large council districts, term limits for the Mayor, additional key senior staff in the Mayor's office, moving the Planning Department under the Mayor's office - the Mayor appoints the Planning director and approximately 35 minor changes. Mar 11 Discussion included: Neighborhood surveillance camera directory & camera share - BRPD partnership (Connect Blue BR), See this link for presentation. 2021 focus areas conversation with Metro Council members, 5G - preferred locations (see link) status update, Short Term Rentals (see link) study group status update, Federation member survey of association insurance cover & dues collection methods and February/YTD financial report. Feb 11 Discussion Included: Federal Income Tax and non exempt filling requirements as well as LA State franchise and corporate taxes for HOAs presented by Sara Downing. See this link for presentation. An update on 5G preferred location activities in the Dept of Development, status update on the ongoing MetroCouncilperson discussions, several upcoming C-P initiatives that the Federation is involved with. Jan 14 Discussion included: 2020 - Year in review presentation which high lighted all the accomplishments and activites the Federation was involved in. An update on the 5G ordinance was presented. The discussion included changes in the ordinance and next steps for HOAs - with emphasis on the preferred designated locations. Several business matters were handled, including approval of the 2021 operating budget and the 2020 Recognition award for Lifetime Service was presented to Elliott Atkinson.
